Nelson Bourque

EVA, La. — Services for Nelson Paul Bourque, 59, of Monterey, who died Saturday, June 12, 2010, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eva Church of God with Bro. Kevin Simms and Bro. Dennis Baker officiating.
Burial will follow at Lone Pine Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Bourque was born Dec. 19, 1950, in Lafayette, La., the son of Mabrey Bourque and Eva Elta Bourque. He was a musician and stamp collector/dealer.
Mr. Bourque served a number of years as a counselor for disabled veterans. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He received a number of military honors that included the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with one bronze star), Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm & Frame, Purple Heart Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.
Mr. Bourque loved life. He always had a way of finding the good in any situation. He was fun loving and had a very good character. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Bourque; one brother, David Bourque and wife, Mary, of Erath, La.; three stepdaughters, Dana Morace of Monterey, Denise Frye of Vidalia and Dosey Powell and husband, Chris, of Jonesville; four adopted sons, David, Danny, Darrell and Bobby Bourque, all of Florida; two aunts, Mary Bourque and Nita Berard; one uncle, Luke Bourque; two granddaughters, Amber and Ashley Frye, both of Vidalia; and two grandsons, Charlie and Chase Powell, both of Jonesville.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Morace, Ronnie Duncan, Kirk Ford, Darrell Brigman, Caleb Bass, Christopher Rouse, Phuc Bui and Scottie Benoit.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Morace, Charles Wascom, Scott Frye and John Whitehead.
