FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — Memorial services for Marion Kendall Steed, 58, who died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Regency Hospital in Carrollton, Texas, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in early April, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Christ United Methodist Church.

Mr. Steed was born Sept. 23, 1951, in Jackson, the son of Newton Marion and Nelene Steed. He was a 1970 graduate of South Natchez High School and a 1972 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College with a major in electronics.

He was an avid traveler who liked skiing, photography and culinary arts. He was known as the original “Google” because he was such a “Jack of all Trades.” A hobbyist of hobbies — his favorites were tractors, electronics, cars and pen making. He was a valued employee of Sigma Solutions for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Steed; two daughters, Laura Short of Jacksonville, Fla., and Clara McDaniel and husband, Thomas, of Jacksonville, N.C.; one son, Aaron Steed of Farmers Branch; his mother of Natchez; three sisters, Vicki Hite of Denham Springs, La., Kitty Simpson and husband, Ray, of Natchez, and Penny Lovitt and husband, Bo, of Hattiesburg; six nieces and nephews; and a number of beloved friends, colleagues and riders.
