NATCHEZ — Services of John Oliver Lee, 83, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgantown Baptist Church with Dr. Edgar Wright and the Rev. David Merritt officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Lee was born July 25, 1926, in Bude, the son of Andrew C. and Matilda Robertson Lee. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was a member and a deacon at Morgantown Baptist Church.
Mr. Lee was employed by Johns-Mansville for 20 years and retired from Armstrong Tire Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde and Thomas Lee; and one great-grandson, John David Carpenter.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Allen Lee; two daughters, June Lee Carpenter and husband, Kenneth, of Natchez and Susan Lee Ayuso and husband, Carlos, of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Curtis Lee of Crystal Springs, Bill Lee of Warner Robins, Ga., and Earl Lee of Petal; three sisters, Clara Surratt of Edna, Texas, Gaye Metcalf of Vero Beach, Fla., and Faye Smith of Brookhaven; and a number of nieces, nephews and the Allen family.
Pallbearers will be Lynn McNeely Jr., Scott Carpenter, David Carpenter, Ryan Ayuso, Carlos Ayuso and Jack B. Chance Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men adult class four at Morgantown Baptist Church.
