RIDGELAND — AAA members in the first AAA Best of the South poll have named Natchez as its second-best small city for a weekend getaway.

“AAA Southern Traveler” readers voted on their favorite places to visit, eat, play and shop.

Other Natchez attractions that were voted into the top three of the Best of the South poll included

– Monmouth Plantation — second place, best bed and breakfast

– Dunleith — third place, best bed and breakfast

– Natchez Eola — second place, best small/boutique hotel

– Darby Short — second place, best shopkeeper

– Pig Out Inn — third place, best barbecue

– Old South Trading Post — second place, best place for quirky souvenirs,

– Natchez antiques district — second place, best antiques district
