District offering free health screenings

As we are all in the middle of our summer season in the Miss-Lou, most families are enjoying the children on a break from school, baseball games, snow cones and lazy evenings with no specific places to be.

This is a great time for most families as we relax at a somewhat slower pace than normal.

One thing that we must all stay on top of, however, is our constant attention and ambition to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The Natchez-Adams School is hoping to help you with that little detail in your life on today.

The NASD is hosting a community-wide free health screening for all citizens today at the Natchez Community Center. We will be providing free blood pressure checks, hearing screenings, weight exams, along with blood sugar checks and lipid panels.

The Natchez-Adams School District is concerned over the increase in childhood obesity, and the increased number of students and adults in our area with hypertension and diabetes.

We will also have literature available for parents, students and adults alike that provide information for preparing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for your children and your families.

We will have instructions on proper meals, sleep habits and requirements for your children and recommendations for medical and dental screenings.

The health fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Natchez Community Center on Franklin St. in Natchez.

The NASD nursing staff will be available to provide blood pressure checks, weight and BMI calculations, and hearing screening provided by our speech pathologist of the district, along with very informative and useful data and literature for your home.

We will have instructors from the Mississippi Diabetes Association in Jackson from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to perform free blood sugar checks and lipid profiles.

Please join the Natchez-Adams School District for this wonderful event today where we are teaming up to help you improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle for you and your family.
