Another busy weekend has passed, and if you couldn’t find something fun to do, you simply didn’t try.

With the Natchez Little Theatre Standing Ovations, the Reunion of the ’70s and the Kiwanis pancake breakfast filling the day Saturday, it was certainly a great weekend.

But the days prior brought plenty of excitement as well. Let’s review a few other good things that happened last week.

Wednesday, 59 Natchez High School students gave up a day of summer relaxation for lifelong preparation. The students attended a workshop aimed at preparing them for the college entrance exam the ACT. It was great to see so many students taking advantage of the programs their school is providing for them.

Teenagers from Highland Baptist Church are back from a world-changing trip. The students did manual labor for those in need in the Daytona Beach, Fla., area. Their mission trip was part of the national World Changers program.

Natchez native U.S. Navy Commander David “Tony” Lott took over command of the USS Hampton (SSN 767), the most advanced nuclear attack submarine in the world this week. Lott’s accomplishments make us all proud and reflect well on his Natchez upbringing.

Ferriday is working to launch a Neighborhood Watch Program. It’s great to see the community interested in bettering itself, and we wish the group the best of luck.

With so much great news last week, we know some of it is bound to carry over into this week to come.
