NATCHEZ — Summer always seems to fly by, but the Natchez-Adams School District hopes to ease the pain of getting back into the swing of things.

The district is hosting its annual “A Day in the District” from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today to help parents get ready for back to school.

With less than two weeks until the first day of school in the area, parents are encouraged to visit the Steckler Multipurpose Center behind Natchez High School today to register their children.

Information about lunches, buses, dress codes, school supplies, parent centers, PTA, scheduling, attendance, activities and more will also be available.

Parents must bring two proofs of residence such as a utility bill or driver’s license to register their child.

Superintendent Anthony Morris said the event has become a popular way for parents to prepare for the new year.

“In years past it has been very successful,” he said. “They do the 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to try to accommodate people, regardless of their work schedules.

“It pulls everything together under one roof. Many (parents) have children at multiple schools, so we’ll have representatives from all of the schools.”
