VIDALIA — A Vidalia resident and Louisiana State Trooper is behind bars and being detained on a $1.75 million bond after the state police arrested him on sex charges earlier this week.

Jay Sandifer, 39, 139 Lee Ave., Vidalia, was booked in the Concordia Parish jail Monday on charges molestation of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and sexual battery.

At the time of his booking, he also had bench warrants for his arrest from Franklin Parish on charges of two counts molestation of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Sandifer, who is on forced leave from the LSP, was previously charged in May with three counts indecent behavior with a juvenile and in June with another count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and four counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile by the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office.

His bond there was set at $700,000.
