FERRIDAY — Services for Marcia Kay Ater Goeggle, 70, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sevier United Methodist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kay attended school in Monticello, Ill., where she married. She was active in the Cisco United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School. Along with her husband Jack, they were an active farming family and moved to Tallulah, La., where they continued farming and ultimately moved to Ferriday in the early 1970s. She was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren and farming operation.

She belonged to the National Association of Realtors, licensed both in Illinois and Louisiana. She also enjoyed her position as court reporter for Concordia Parish and the friends she made while there. She was also a certified paralegal.

An active genealogist, she researched extensively. Reading was a favorite hobby, along with horseback riding. She loved horses and boxers and was involved in showing and breeding through the American Quarter Horse Association.

She was a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church in Ferriday, and the Bruin Vidal Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the women’s service organization and American National CowBelles, serving as local and state officers.

Goeggle was preceded in death by her husband William Jack Goeggle and parents Donald and LaVonne Ater.

Survivors include sons John Goeggle of Ferriday and Jeff Goeggle of Monterey; grandchildren Joni Michelle McKenzie, John William Goeggle III, Justin Ray Goeggle and Jory Brice Goeggle; great-grandchildren Harley Metcalf, Jacie Rae Goeggle, Jensyn Drew Goeggle, Ava Katherine McKenzie and Addison Alysse McKenzie; brothers Donald Willard Ater, Edward William Ater and wife Mignonne and Alan Ray Ater and wife Susie and sister Lynette Ater Tanner and husband Buddy.

Pallbearers will be John William Goeggle III, Justin Ray Goeggle, Jory Brice Goeggle, John Branton, Don Branton and Allan McKenzie.
