FERRIDAY — Services for Laura Brooks Young, 97, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Doty Road Church of God with the Rev. Simeon Green III and the Rev. Robert L. Cade officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Young was born Aug. 30, 1912, in Waterproof, the daughter of William and Laura Brooks.

She was preceded in death by his parents and her husband, Robert Young.

Survivors include six sons, Willie Young of Ferriday, Louis Willis and wife, Margaret, of Moreno Valley, Calif., Joe Young and wife, Sylvia, Robert Young Jr. and wife, Louise, all of Los Angeles, Green Young and wife, Gloria, of Vidalia and Charles Young and wife, Regina, of Alta Loma, Calif.; three daughters, Birdie Newman and husband, Jimmy, of Carson, Calif., Ester Price and husband, Henderson, of Ontario, Calif., and Dorothy Willis of Los Angeles; special nieces and caretakers, Catherine Hatten of Jonesville and Janet Willis of Ferriday; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
