Recreation complex gains traction

Is Natchez nearing the on deck-circle?
Hopefully so, thanks to one vote of confidence from the Adams County Board of Supervisors Monday.
The board voted in favor of funding $11,000 to the Natchez-Adams County Recreation Commission for the hiring of a recreation complex architect.
Now, the city and school board must follow suit if local dreams of modern recreation facilities are to come true.
The recreation commission has also received a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant that can be used toward the early stages of the complex construction.
With an $11,000 commitment in one hand and a grant in the other, the commission can surely grab its proverbial bat and helmet and start the walk to the plate soon.
Adams County voters overwhelming voted in support of a new recreation complex, and the current elected leaders owe it to the public to make the complex a reality.
The completion of such a facility is one step toward unifying our community in the name of good clean fun.
We thank the supervisors for their realization that the people want recreation, and we hope the “yes” votes will keep coming.
