BROOKHAVEN — Services for the Rev. Gordon Coker, 57, of Brookhaven, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Brookhaven.
Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rev. Coker was born Jan. 7, 1953, in Pike County, the son of Paul G. Coker Sr. and Doris Coker Pezant.
Rev. Coker served as pastor of Ramah Baptist Church for seven years and was currently serving as pastor of Springfield Baptist Church in Natchez.
Before receiving the call to the ministry, he owned and operated Coker Timber for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Betsy Cupit Coker; one daughter, Paige Coker and fiancé, Joey Campo; two sons, Paul Coker III and Tyler Garret Coker; his mother and stepfather, Joe Pezant of McComb; one sister, Darlene Coker East of Houma, La.; and one brother, Donnie Coker of McComb.
His love for the Lord and missions led him to the Guarayo Indians in Bolivia. Donations may be made to the Bolivian Fund at Friendship Baptist Church in Brookhaven.
