WOODVILLE — Mass for Edward Larkin Smith Jr., 81, of Woodville, who died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at his residence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Woodville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Woodville and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Smith was born June 10, 1929, the son of Edward Larkin Smith Sr. and Willie Cage Smith.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Joan of Arch Canning Company as a supervisor. He also served as president on the Board of Directors of Old River Water Association for 23 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian LaVerne “Peggy” Smith; his parents; one son, Vernon Larkin Smith; one grandson, William Bradley Smith; and two sisters, June S. Carter and Sherry S. King.
Survivors include one daughter, Hope Smith Thimmesch; five sons, Edward Kirk Smith Sr., Louis Neyland Smith Sr., Stewart C. Smith, Clifton L. Smith Sr. and Patrick W. Smith; three sisters, Linda S. Butler, Donna S. Arnold and Evelyn S. Harris; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
