WESSON — The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission’s board of commissioners has approved the continuing accreditation of Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s associate degree nursing program.

The board of commissioners granted the associate nursing program continuing accreditation and scheduled the next evaluation visit for spring 2018.

The May 2010 ADN graduates have achieved 100 percent registered nursing licensure exam pass rate on the first write of the exam. This is the second time in the program’s history that 100 percent of a class that took the registered nursing licensing exam all passed on the first attempt.

The first class that achieved 100 percent was the graduating class of 1999.

“I am very proud of our nursing faculty in preparing our students,” said Co-Lin President Dr. Ronnie Nettles. “They do an excellent job training our students for a career in a critical health care field. We can all feel comfortable knowing that students at Co-Lin are getting the highest quality health care training available.”

“The faculty, staff and I are so pleased with the outcome of the recent nursing program continuing accreditation review and the May 2010 graduates’ performance on the RN licensure exam,” said Associate Degree Nursing Program Director Mary Ann Canterbury. “Both achievements are well-deserved and reflect the hard work, dedication and commitment of not only the associate degree nursing faculty but also of our admirable students.”

Co-Lin’s two-year program awards the associate in applied science degree in nursing, and those that meet the requirements of the State Board of Nursing are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. The associate degree nursing program has been in existence for 15 years and graduated over 450 students.
