HOUSTON (AP) — Authorities are trying to find the parents of a newborn boy who was discovered strapped in his car seat at the back door of the Salvation Army in Houston.
Constable Billy Voyles says a man dropping off a television spotted the child Tuesday and alerted law enforcement. Voyles says the child was taken to a hospital for a preliminary evaluation, but appeared to be healthy. He says the child is only a few days old. Voyles says while newborns can be legally dropped off at local police departments, fire departments or hospitals, it is illegal to abandon any child.
