EVA, La. — Services for George Winson Paul, 81, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Alexandria, La., will be at 1 p.m. today at Eva Church of God with the Rev. Kevin Sims, the Rev. Leland Briggs, the Rev. Gordon Finlay and the Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating.

Burial will follow at Palo Alto Cemetery in Mayna, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Paul was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Franklin Parish, the son of Willie and Drusilla Paul. He was a very active member of the Eva Church of God where he served as a board member and Sunday school teacher. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Paul was a farmer and was also employed by International Paper Company.

He found the most enjoyment out of life by spending time with his family at family gatherings. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Odene White Paul; one sister, Velma Dee Paul; and one brother, W.L. Paul.

Survivors include two daughters, Joy Trisler and husband, Dickie, of Mayna and Beth Wug and husband, Sam, of Ball, La.; one son, Dane Paul and wife, Tee, of Monterey; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Trisler, Seth Paul, Zachary Wug, Caleb Wug, Dion Morris and Will Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Paul, Burton Boles, Little Bud Paul, Bo White, Charlie White, Dale McGuffee and lifelong friend and neighbor, J.D. Lipsey.
