NATCHEZ — Private services for Malama Barnes, 64, of Quitman, Ga., who died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center, will be Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Music Funeral Services in Valdosta, Ga.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at 2 Janice Circle.

Mrs. Barnes was born Aug. 3, 1946, the daughter of Salapu and Masuisui (Saoimanulua) Liufau. She lived in different states being a Navy wife. Formerly of Jackson, she moved to Barney, Ga., seven years ago and currently lived in Quitman, Ga.

Malama was a very loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She had a number of nieces, nephews and adopted children. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and baking. She always had a smile on her face and always made people laugh.

Mrs. Barnes touched a number of lives. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Hulen “Pete” J. Barnes; her parents; four sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include three daughters, Jeanette Webb and husband, Dwayne, of Natchez, Joy Barnes of Quitman and Jill Barnes and J.J. Harris of Norfolk, Va.; one grandson, Jackson Webb of Natchez; three sisters, Sui Ostrin of Oregon, Loini Eisenach and June Brown, both of Washington; four brothers, Vau Liufau of Texas, Joe Liufau, Keni Liufau and Deni Liufau, all of Washington; and special friend, Ed Hunter of Quitman.
