FERRIDAY — Services for Anna Belle Cain, 95, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cain was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Hamburg, the daughter of Wilbur and Lula Hawkes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferriday.

Mrs. Cain was feisty, headstrong, hardworking and kindhearted. She had worked for a number of companies, National Foods, Raymonds, Arcade, Smith’s Café, Brocatos, Magnolia, Stroziers and Forresters Laundry Matt. Her family gave her the greatest joy in life, she loved the holidays, getting everyone together and cooking for them. She loved doing yard work and her flowers and did so well into her 80s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur F. Cain; two sons, George Cain and Wilbur C. Cain; one grandson, Everett Moore; one son-in-law, L.J. Guidry; her parents; three sisters, Lucille Joplin, Frances Shaw and Lorraine Rister; and two brothers, W.T. Hawkes and J.C. Hawkes.

Survivors include three daughters, Shelby Guidry, Ruth Smith and husband, Herman, all of Ferriday, and Eula Mae Moore of Shreveport, La.; fours sons, Charles Cain and wife, Jackie, John Cain and wife, Brenda, Richard Cain and wife, Patsy, all of Ferriday, and Malcolm Cain and wife, Charlotte, of Vidalia; two brothers, Joe Hawkes of Thibodaux, La. and Philip Hawkes of Lock Port, La.; one sister, Billie Jean Palmer of Florida; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
