RIDGECREST — Services for Ivy Ralph “Bud” Price, 78, of Ferriday, who departed his earthly home Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, from Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday to go and rejoice with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Preston Holder and the Rev. Clois Cole officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Price was born May 10, 1932, in Ferriday, the son of Ivy J. Price and Helen Dabbs Price Hester. He married Dorothy Jean Gommert Price March 13, 1954, while he was serving his country and stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was a 1953 graduate of Waterproof High School in Waterproof, La. During his life he was a member of Tensas First Baptist Church in Waterproof, Sycamore Baptist Church in Vidalia, First Baptist Church in Ferriday and Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ridgecrest. He served as a deacon since 1968, serving Christ, members of the church and our surrounding communities. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and Fidelity Tires of Natchez. After retirement he was an avid substitute school bus driver for Concordia Parish School Board and a driver for Concordia Council on Aging.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Price Stuart; and one sister-in-law, Cora Butler Price.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years; three sons, Ralph E. Price and wife, Rhonda, of Chelsea, Ala., Lionel Gene Price and Daryle W. Price, both of Ferriday; two daughters, Janice D. Price of Ferriday and Jennifer L. Price of Brandon; two granddaughters, Christy L. Price and fiancé, Patrick Westcott, both of Helena, Ala., and Whitney S. Price Granger and husband, Justin, of Jonesville; two grandsons, Kevin J. Price of Chelsea and Jared G. Price and fiancée, Aimee Preuett of Alexandria, La.; one sister, Edith Price Keyes of Waterproof; one aunt, Louise McLeod of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Lois Gommert Orsag of Buckholts, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Woodrow “Sonny” Gommert of Temple, Texas and Wilbert “Shorty” Gommert of Buckholts; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Odell Vining Sr., Milton Sanders, Melvin Holias, Tommy Barron, Jared Price, Kevin Price, Justin Granger and Dickie Keyes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Butler, Tinker Renfrow, Angelo Latino and member of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
