NATCHEZ — Services for Clifford M. Robinson Sr., 83, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. James P. Fallon, S.S.J., officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Williams & Williams Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Robinson was born July 7, 1927, in Coatesville, Pa., the son of James Walter and Nancy Madison Robinson. He attended Scott Senior High School in Coatesville and attended Eckel’s College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, Pa., and Xavier University in New Orleans. He was the owner of Williams & Williams Funeral Home/Mortician.

He was Catholic.

Mr. Robinson joined the U.S. Air Force in 1945, serving three years. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Army where he dedicated seven years of active service and additional years in the U.S. Army Reserves. As a soldier, Mr. Robinson volunteered to go to Vietnam where he served as a U.S. Army mortician, in Saigon.

Returning to the United States in 1970, Mr. Robinson continued in the mortuary profession, working at a number of funeral homes throughout Mississippi and Louisiana before purchasing and operating Williams & Williams Funeral Home in Natchez until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Nancy Robinson, Rosa Long Lewis and Mary Robinson; and six brothers, Theodore Robinson, Edward Robinson, John Robinson, Walter Robinson, James Robinson Jr., and Willie Starks.

Survivors include one son, Clifford M. Robinson Jr. of New Orleans; two daughters, Marvilea Monita Robinson of Atlanta and Leila Sheryll Robinson of Harvey, La.; three granddaughters, Lakia Robinson Hatfield and husband, Ahmad, Kristina Robinson and Jessica Robinson, all of New Orleans; one great-grandson, Marley McGary of New Orleans; nephew and close friend, Johnny Robinson of Coatesville; and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, other relatives and a number of devoted friends.

Pallbearers will be Mack Haynes, Andrew Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Walter Mackel, Issac Sullivan and David Winnfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford M. Robinson Jr., Ahmad Hatfield and Mississippi and Louisiana Funeral Home Directors.
