JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour says he’s not setting any “artificial deadline” to decide whether he’ll run for president in 2012.

Barbour deflected questions the past several months by saying as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, he was focused on getting his party’s candidates elected.

With the Nov. 2 elections over, Barbour is back home after a few days’ vacation. During a budget news conference Monday, he was asked about White House aspirations.

Barbour says he wants to see if there’s “somebody who has a better chance of winning than I do.”

He says he and his wife have started talking about his running for president, but his priority the next few months is being governor. His second term ends in January 2012.
