Adams County CASA needs volunteers

The Adams County CASA Program is looking for willing volunteers to advocate for children in the Miss-Lou.

Since 1993 the Adams County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program, a volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has served as the voice for abused and neglected children in our county. CASA currently serves as the advocate for more than 200 children who have cases in the Adams County Youth Court.

The mission of Adams County CASA is to recruit and train community volunteers to advocate in the best interest of a child in the Youth Court System due to abuse and neglect. Based on the belief that children are entitled to a safe and permanent home, CASA works with the court system through trained volunteers, in collaboration with involved agencies, legal counsel and by using community resources to serve as a child’s voice in court. CASA strives to ensure that each child is placed in a safe, permanent, loving and nurturing home as soon as possible.

CASA volunteers are every day citizens judges appoint to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes due to parental abuse and neglect. They stand up for these children and change their lives. The volunteers and staff of this organization independently investigate the cases of every abused and neglected child who comes before our court.

CASA workers meet with the child, parents, teachers, family members, physicians and children in crisis. Court Appointed Special Advocates testify in court and make recommendations as to how the child’s life might be improved. This information gives the judge a much better understanding of the case, allowing him to make more knowledgeable decisions.

CASA volunteers work to build hope in the lives of children who are abused and neglected. It takes an entire community to ensure that children are provided stable, loving, nurturing and safe homes to grow in to become the best that they can be. Please consider being and active partner and voice in the lives of children who may not have anyone else to speak for them.
