WATERPROOF — Services for Bertha Brown, 67, of Waterproof, who died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Canon Hospice in Jefferson, La., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Waterproof, the daughter of Willie and Rosie Snowden Johnson. She was an accelerated reading teacher and librarian for Tensas Parish schools. She was also a member of Cypress Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star-Waterproof Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Brown and her parents.

Survivors include six brothers, Willie Johnson Jr., Edgar Snowden, Dennis Finister and Jimmy Snowden, all of Waterproof, Jessie Snowden of Houston, Texas and John Maurice Snowden of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Dorothy D. Smith and husband, Leonard, of New Orleans, Terry Snowden of Houston and Viola Johnson of Vidalia; her three best friends, Gladys Edwards, Mariah Cooper and Geraldine Jenkins; a special friend, Robert Williams; four godchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
