ELLISVILLE — Services for Martha Ellen Fitzgerald Landrum, 91, of Ovett, who died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Jenkins and the Rev. Bob Burch officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Ellisville Funeral Home in Laurel.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Landrum was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of John Patrick and Margaret Lillian Sherlock Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Landrum or “Granny” as everyone called her, owned two businesses in Warminster, Pa. She was also a crossing guard and dispatcher for the Warminster Police Department before moving to Ovett in 1966. She then worked for the Ellisville Courthouse and retired from Ellisville State School.

After retirement, she decided that retirement was not for her, and she became a foster grandparent at Ellisville Elementary and then South Jones Elementary. She was awarded the President’s Call to Service Award for her commitment to strengthening our nation and for making a difference through volunteer service.

Mrs. Landrum was a longtime member of Good Hope Baptist Church in the Landrum community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Landrum; two sons, John and William Landrum; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Dobbels of Natchez and Gwen “Pie” Landrum and husband, Leslie, of Landrum; four grandchildren, Midge Dobbels-Lee and husband, Danny, and Ray Dobbels, all of Natchez, John Krapf and wife, Miriam, of Lecanto, Fla., and Glenda Sanford and husband, Shon, of Ovett; six great-grandchildren, Amy Gordon and husband, David, Chris Lee and wife, Nikki, and Dane Lee, all of Natchez, Stacia Carpenter and husband, David, of Brookhaven, Amanda Pazak and husband, Dave, of Tucson, Ariz., and Addison Sanford of Ovett; nine great-grandchildren, Seth, Daniel Hannah, Lane, Rivers, William, Caylee, Alice and Garrett; one special little friend, Issac Ramirez; her beloved dog, Fudgie; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lee, Dane Lee, Ray Dobbels, Shon Sanford, David Gordon and David Carpenter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Scoggins, Donnie Scoggins and Steve Thrash.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
