Season’s wishes bring good news

This season of wishes has been a great one so far in the Miss-Lou.
Non-profit agencies are reporting small blessings, in spite of tough economic times, and the Christmas in Natchez events have been wonderful.
Let’s review a few special things from last week before we begin that final countdown to Christmas.
– Nearly 400 Christmas wreaths decorated gravestones at the Natchez National Cemetery Saturday as part of the Wreaths Across America project. The wreaths honor veterans who served us all so proudly.
– The Historic Natchez Foundation celebrated with its annual awards ceremony this week, honoring several locals who have made a difference in historic preservation. It’s important that we remember our history, and we are glad to see locals treating it with care.
– Melrose was one of many area sites to join the Christmas fun last week. Fun, fake food put the finishing touches on the Christmas tables of days gone by.
– Pleasant Acre Day School received a blessing many times over when the community responded to its request for a new fence. The fence is up and the donation box is full, thanks to the generous support of the Miss-Lou.
Christmas is a busy time, but if you haven’t taken a few minutes to enjoy the special moments of the holidays in Natchez, please do so this week. Many good things surround you, from people to beautiful lights.
