VIDALIA — Services for Howell Bernard Smith, 63, of Vidalia, who died Friday Dec. 17, 2010, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with Bro. Ron Ferrington officiating.

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born on July 18, 1947, the son of John Alexander and Lillian Marie Smith. He was a resident of Vidalia and was employed by D&D Drilling for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Georgia F. Smith; his son, Heith Smith; and two brothers, Walter Earl Smith and James Edward Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy Lucas and husband, Jonathan, of Vidalia and Kim Melton, and husband, Mack, of Vidalia; three brothers, J.W. Smith and wife, Faye, of West Monroe, La., Carl Jr. Smith and wife, Judy, and Wayne Smith all of West Monroe; five sisters, Mary Lee Purdion of St. Joseph, Martha Dee Smith of West Monroe, Billy Faye Underwood and husband, James, of West Monroe, Willie Lee Edwards of West Monroe and Anne Haile and husband, Willie, of Sterlington, La.; five grandchildren, Mikayla Smith, Marleigh Smith, Hannah Smith, Destiny Lucas and Landon Heith Allen Smith; and one daughter-in-law, Monica Smith.

Pallbearers will be Alan Cunningham, Alex Smith, Billy Price, Richard Fair and Rusty Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of D&D Drilling.
