FERRIDAY — Services for Dale Price “Red” Hoover Sr., 72, of Waterproof, who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, in Waterproof, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Cooper and the Rev. Larry Waggoner officiating.

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hoover was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Lake Providence, La., the son of David Avery and Edie Price Hoover. He was a retired farmer and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Thelma Hopkins.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jane Williams Hoover; one daughter, Tammye Hoover Dixey of Natchez; two sons, Dale Hoover Jr. and wife, Carol, of West Monroe, La., and Stephen Williams Hoover and wife, Sharon, of Ferriday; two brothers, William Hoover and wife, Lois, and Chester Hoover; one sister, Sue Bennett; eight grandchildren, Miles Dixey, Janey Dixey, Justin Cardella, Avery Hoover, Price Hoover, Curtiss Keating and wife, Katie, Jo-lee Brixey and husband, Justin, and Sara Hoover; five great-grandchildren, Brady, Coen and Kently Keating, Haydon and Wil Brixey; one brother-in-law, Arthur Williams and wife, Judy, of West Monroe; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved labs, Belle and Bru.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Hoover, Chris Porter, Gary Hoover, Miles Dixey, Ken Burnette, Stuart Chambliss, Matthew Debnam and Curtiss Keating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Dye, Justin Brixey, Prent Castle, Scott Frick, Rusty Dixey, Knox Westmoreland, Charlie Westmoreland, Ray Castle and Chad Huber.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
