Drug arrests made in Parish

FERRIDAY — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office along with the U.S. Marshal’s Service made six drug arrests in the Ferriday area last Thursday and Friday, including the joint arrest of three individuals possessing seven illegal substances.

Derrick Jerome Minor, 27, 269 Doty Garden Circle, Melinda Gauthier, 17, 305 Crestview Drive and Anwan O. Caesor, 32, 410 S. First St., were all arrested and charged with three counts of possession of schedule I drugs with intent to distribute, three counts of possession of schedule II drugs with intent to distribute, three counts of possession of schedule III drugs with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The three individuals were arrested at an abandoned house on the corner of T’s Road and Smart Lane Thursday night after one man reportedly fled the scene dropping a black backpack.

Officers confiscated the backpack and found suspected marijuana, ecstasy, crack cocaine, synthetic marijuana, hydrocodone, morphine, Darvocet and two sets of digital scales.

A warrant has also been issued for a fourth suspect wanted in connection with the case.

On Thursday night, Derrick O. Williams, 27, 403 Smart Lane was also arrested for allegedly attempting to sell marijuana from his house.

He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and flight from an officer.

Kevin Ray Hawkins, 29, 476 Crestivew Road, was arrested Friday afternoon on Third Street after he allegedly obstructed the road in Ferriday.

He was charged with obstructing a public passage and possession of schedule II drugs, crack cocaine.

The final arrest over the two-day stretch also happened Friday afternoon after 24-year-old Fredrick E. Frazier, reportedly spotted CPSO and Marshal’s Service officers at a gas station on E.E. Wallace Boulevard in Ferriday.

Frazier, 212 Second St., fled south down E.E. Wallace and allegedly threw a bag from his hand that contained 14 bags of suspected marijuana.

He was charged with possession of marijuana, flight from an officer and resisting an officer.

Lt. Chris Groh of the CPSO arrested the suspects along with officers from the U.S. Marshals Service.
