VICKSBURG (AP) — A Franklin County logger working at Kings Point Island was killed when a tree fell on him as he was headed to a lunch break.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace says 39-year-old McKinley Martin of Hamburg had been cutting trees for M&M Farms of Bude, on the island northwest of Vicksburg. Pace says Martin had set his saw against another tree and was walking away when another tree fell from behind and hit him on Saturday, which was the victim’s birthday.

Martin tells The Vicksburg Post the incident appeared to be an accident.
