NATCHEZ — Residents of an old town can learn new tricks to market their business at a free Thursday workshop.
The Business Over Breakfast workshop from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. upstairs in the Natchez Convention Center will teach some the latest tools of advertising and marketing using cell phones, Natchez Chamber of Commerce Director Debbie Hudson said.
“Because marketing today is changing daily — just look at all our Facebook and Twitter — you need to know what tomorrow is going to bring and you need to be aware of possibilities,” Hudson said.
The breakfast workshop is the second of its kind sponsored by Alcorn State University, the Natchez chamber and Natchez Inc.
John Brandon from the Mississippi Development Authority will talk as an expert in the field about using cell phones to market business. His presentation, “The Power of Mobile Marketing” will give information and guidance on ways for businesses to better interact with their customers.
Hudson said the workshop could be eye-opening to those who attend.
It will show attendants what strategies are out there to help grow businesses and also let them know where they stand on the spectrum of modern marketing, Hudson said.
“All of the tools will be helpful,” she said.
Hudson said the Business Over Breakfast workshops display an effort of several groups working together to look toward the future of small businesses in the community.
Recognizing that existing businesses are just as viable as new businesses, and that small businesses can grow are all important to future the economic development, Hudson said.
