WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Brandon) has been named chairman of the Subcommittee on Elections for the Committee on House Administration by Chairman Dan Lungren of California.
“I am honored that Chairman Lungren has selected me to lead the Republican efforts for fair and principled elections,” Harper said. “I am eager to work on legislation that will modernize the voting process, safeguard against election fraud and protect Americans’ right to vote.”
The subcommittee on elections, which has jurisdiction over all federal elections, is responsible for monitoring congressional races across the United States and considering proposals to amend federal election law.
Harper is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives and sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Speaker John Boehner has also selected the Mississippi lawmaker to serve on the Committee on Ethics.
