WATERPROOF — Services for Ella Louise “Weezie” Thomas, 57, of Waterproof, who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at her daughter’s residence in New Orleans, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Baptist Church in Waterproof with the Rev. Jarrod Bottley officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Thomas was born Nov. 13, 1953, in Waterproof, the daughter of George and Eliza McCall Thomas. She was employed by Tensas Parish School System as a custodian.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son, Lamar Thomas of Ferriday; one daughter, Veronica Thomas of New Orleans; five brothers, Joe Thomas, Archie Thomas, both of New Orleans, Clinton Thomas of Oakland, Calif., Andrew Thomas of Long Beach, Calif., and George Thomas Jr. of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Creola Jones, Betty Turner, Eliza Williams and Dora Thomas, all of New Orleans, and Ellen Carrethers of South Bend, Ind.; one godchild, La’Kyah Walker of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
