EVA, La. — Services for Willie Gilbert “Doodie” Aswell, 85, longtime resident of Eva, La., who died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, in Ferriday, will be at 3 p.m. today at Eva Church of God with the Rev. Kevin Sims, the Rev. Lloyd Trisler and the Rev. Marion Trisler Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be until service time today at the church.

Mr. Aswell was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Serena, La., the son of Jack E. and Lola C. Aswell. He was a member of Eva Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Warren Aswell; and one sister, Margie Frith.

Survivors include one sister, Inez Gilmer of Lake St. John and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Reggie Aswell, Mitchell Aswell, Tykes Trisler, Chancy Frith, James Lee Paul, Seab Mount, Sage Mount and Buddy Hedrick.
