Mrs. Blunschi was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Jonesville, the daughter of Mr. “G” and Laura Davis.

Mom was kind, strong, compassionate, understanding, creative, spirited and the God-loving matriarch of our family and will be deeply missed.

She was the co-owner with her husband , Dr. John E. Blunschi Jr., of the Ferriday Animal Hospital. She loved to be outside in her yard tending to her flower garden.

She was the past president and honorary member of the Ferriday Garden Club and president of the Ferriday High School Band Booster, served on the Concordia Parish School Board and was chosen Mother of the Year for the Ferriday Dixie Youth Baseball. She loved to have family around her, especially during Christmas time when she would gather everyone together and read The Christmas Story to the entire family. Family reunions were also a time that she enjoyed immensely. Being able to reconnect with family brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, John Davis, Pete Davis, Eddie Davis and Alton J. Davis; and one sister, Velma Poole.

Survivors include six sons, Johnny Blunschi and wife, Stephanie, Ricky Blunschi and wife, Amy, Woodie Blunschi and wife, Jenny, all of Ferriday, Sam Blunschi and wife, Katie, and Mike Blunschi and wife, Glenda, all of Baton Rouge, and Paul Blunschi and wife, Renita, of West Monroe, La.; two daughters, Mary Satterfield and husband, Steve, of Santa Ana, Calif., and Becky McMath and husband, Dean, of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Mamie Simon of Jonesville; one brother, Woodie Davis of Ferriday; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her sons.

A special thanks to her sitters, Wanda Adams, Betty Wisner, Sharlotte Fitzgerald and Tensas Home Health Agency for their care and compassion shown to our mother.
