VIDALIA — Services for Myrtis B. Carter, 89, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Wisner, La., the daughter of Edward and Lena Osborn Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chris George Carter; two sons, Theopolis Marshall and Edward Marshall Sr.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include eight grandchildren, Verna Roach and husband, Author, Edward Marshall Jr. and wife, Katie, and Ronald Wayne Marshall, all of Hopewell, Va., Lydia Mack and husband, Earl, Marvis Marshall, all of Colorado Springs, Colo., Carl Marshall and wife, Linda, of Silver Springs, Md., Derrick Marshall and wife, Ruth, of Prince George, Va., and Marc Marshall; two daughters-in-law, Willie Ruth Marshall of Vidalia and Beatrice Marshall of Hopewell; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
