FERRIDAY — Services for Thomas Earl Cupit, 75, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, March 10, 2011, in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cupit was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Sicily Island, the son of Robert David Cupit Sr. and Theda Mae Cupit. He was retired as owner and operator of Cupit’s Meat Market in Jonesville.
He was Pentecostal. He was quite an accomplished musician and was a protégé of the late Governor Jimmy Davis. He made an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry, Porter Wagner Show, Louisiana Hayride and the Don Wiley Show.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Delia Cupit and Velma Cupit; his parents; four sons, Tim Earl Cupit, Mark David Cupit, Don Earl Cupit and Thomas Earl Cupit Jr.; two brothers, Danny Cupit and Donnie Cupit; and one sister, Betty Decker.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Hall and husband, Walter D. Hall, of Vidalia and Christel Fuller and husband, William M. Fuller, of Morton; one brother, Bob Cupit of Natchez; one sister, Shirley Jean Lovette of Willis, Texas; four grandchildren, Lisa Cupstid and husband, Mark, Chris Burr, Tray Burr and wife, Mindy, and Nina Torrey; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tray Burr, Chris Burr, Mark Cupstid, Allen Cotten, Casey Quimby, Taylor Everett, Landon Everett and Michael Everett.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Lovette, William Fuller and David Cupit.
