Easter joy highlights week

Religious and commercial Easter celebrations are well under way, and we hope this time can be one for families to enjoy each other’s company while understanding the true reason we celebrate.
Easter festivities were in full swing Saturday, with the first Easter on the Riverfront event in Vidalia. Organizers estimated more than 2,000 people attended the event, hunting eggs, hearing the Easter story and meeting the Easter bunny. Thanks to those who made this new event a reality.
The week was full of good news. Let’s review a few other noteworthy points.
• Students from Frazier Primary and McLaurin Elementary schools volunteered Saturday morning at Kyle’s House. The project, no doubt, taught the children about the joy of service.
• Ballet Magnificat! — a fundraiser for the Guardian Shelter — drew interested crowds Friday for a fun and inspiring night of entertainment for a good cause.
• Chelsea Crum is nearing the end of her practical nursing training at Central Louisiana Technical College. A student-leader on campus, Crum has a bright future ahead.
• Dozens of local “Caring Women” were honored Tuesday, with six top winners named. Congratulations to the winners and those whose lives they have blessed.
The coming week — and its Easter joy — is bound to be a good one for the Miss-Lou.
