NATCHEZ — Services for Ruth Yvonne Scott Bean, 71, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family, will be at 10 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Dowling officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bean was born April 22, 1940, in Ferriday, the daughter of Elzy S. Saxton and Ruth Evelyn Chauvin Saxton.
Mrs. Bean did a number of things throughout her life, including beauty school and was a licensed Realtor. She was an assistant teacher in special education at South Natchez-Adams High School and later found her niche in the restaurant business.
She owned and operated King’s Tavern in Natchez with great enthusiasm until her illness no longer would allow her to do so. She was an avid painter and her passion was gardening. Her greatest joy was family and friends. She loved to have fun.
She was preceded in death by her father; her first husband, David Earl Scott; her second husband and the love of her life, Marion Lee Bean; and one sister, Juanita Saxton.
Survivors include her mother; three children, Danny Ruth Hickman of Vidalia, Thomas Scott and wife, Vickie, of Yazoo and Whitney Harrison and husband, Jerry, of Woodville; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Dykes, Amy Mercer, Ricky Davenport Jr., Samara Preast, Shelly Roe, Shana Knight and Buck Morrow; three sisters, Jo-Jo Martin, Sandy Clayton and husband, Larry, and Brenna Saxton; one brother, Buddy Saxton and wife, Barbara; 18 great-grandchildren; and three very special friends, Patsy Rogillio who is her longest and dearest friend, Charles D. Blaney and Carol Yarbrough, the most loving caregiver any person could hope to have.
Pallbearers will be Joe Swoveland, Jack McLemore, Gary McIntosh, Jerry Potts, Charles Blaney, Larry Clayton, Trey Saxton Harrison and Parrish Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Davenport Jr., Jestin Harrison, David Martin, Jay Clayton, Drew Harrison, Jason Mercer and Buck Morrow.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Natchez-Adams County Humane Society or Shriners Hospital for Children.
