ST. JOSEPH — Services for Willie Davis, 86, of St. Joseph, who died Monday, June 6, 2011, at Heritage Manor Health and Rehab in Ferriday, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New China Grove Baptist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Isiah Ross officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis was born April 8, 1925, in St. Joseph, the son of Joe and Estella Sexton Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Missie Davis; his parents; one son, Edward Lewis Davis; one daughter, Rosie L. Wiley; one sister, Carrie Davis; and two brothers, Jessie Davis and Percy Davis.
Survivors include nine sons, Willie Davis Jr. of Houston, Texas, Robert Davis, Henry Davis, Edward J. Davis, all of New Orleans, Sylvester Davis, Jerry W. Davis, Ray C. Davis and Clarence E. Davis, all of St. Joseph, and Freddie O. Davis of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Missie Lewis and Cherry Jones, both of New Orleans, and Betty Bethel of St. Joseph; three sisters, Estella Poster, Alice Taylor and Ellan Turner, all of New Orleans; three brothers, the Rev. George Davis, Joe Davis Jr. and Floyd Davis, all of New Orleans; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
