NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Louis “Dunnie” Preis, 75, who died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Preis was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Waterproof, the son of Louis Preis Sr. and Edna Joyce Prichard Preis.
Dunnie had been a resident of West Monroe for a year and was formerly of Waterproof. He was an outstanding athlete who excelled in the sports of football and track in his high school days. Recruited by Auburn University’s football program, he went on to be a sensational running back for the Auburn Tigers as well as a sprinter for the Auburn University track and field team.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marian Powell Preis.
Survivors include four children, Bill Preis of Helena, Mont., Cathye Preis Davis and husband, Cary, of Choudrant, La., Wes Preis of Rayville, La., and Scott Preis and wife, Melissa, of Cumming, Ga.; one sister, Joyce McKnelly and husband, Bill, of Overland Park, Kan.; and a number of grandchildren and nieces.
The family expresses a special thank you to caregivers, Karen Paulk, Sherri Strain, Tammy Netherland, Christina and Orlando Cano, special friends, Curtis and Lisa Southern, along with Glenwood Home Health and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
