NATCHEZ — Services for William Herbert “Shorty” Hall, 80, of Natchez, who died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bro. Ronnie Cosby officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hall was born May 4, 1931 in Gilbert, La., the son of John David Hall and Mary Althea Wilson Hall. He was the most loved and respected husband and father that anyone could ever ask for. He was married to his wife Genelle for 56 years. He was a dedicated member of 61 South Church of Christ. He served the church and the community as an active member of the food pantry program. He was known by his I.P. family and friends as “Shorty.” He retired from International Paper Company after 40 years of service. He was well known in the Kingston and surrounding area for checking on family, friends and the elderly. He never met a stranger and was always willing to talk and help anyone at anytime. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Genelle Hall; two daughters, Cheryl Richardson and husband, Gary of Natchez and Mary Darlene Pike and husband, Matthew of Texas City, Texas; two sons, John Hall and wife, Cynthia of Winnabow, N.C., and Carlton Hall and wife, Tammy of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Chasity Skates, Kristie Cole, Drew Hall, Keri Patrick Arnold, Jeremy Richardson, Mitchell Richardson, Meagan Kendall, Matthew Kendall and Matthew Pike, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Richardson, Drew Hall, Mitchell Richardson, Matthew Kendall, Jered Skates and Jason Dunavant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunny Brooks Home in Jackson.
