NATCHEZ — Services for Jesse Davis, 62, of Vidalia, formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, June 20, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bibleway Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith with Bishop Louis Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Davis was born Nov. 15, 1948, in Natchez, the son of Thomas Davis Jr. and Irene Jackson Davis. He was a 1966 graduate of S.V. Thompson High School where he played basketball. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Davis was formerly employed by Angola Prison Farm, in Angola, La., as a corrections officer. He was a member of Bibleway Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Elnora Thomas Davis of Vidalia; three sons, Rance Champ, Jessie “Santel” Davis, both of Natchez, and Charlie McGraw III of Vidalia; one daughter, Jessica Davis of Vidalia; 15 grandchildren; five brothers, Thomas Davis III, Willie James Davis and wife, Margaret, and Ferguson Davis, all of Natchez, Bobby Davis of Tallahassee, Fla., and Nolan Davis and wife, Carolyn, of Houston, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Sherry Hueing and husband, David, of Ferriday, Margie Thomas of Vidalia and Idella Moore of Los Angeles; one brother-in-law, Willie Thomas of Vidalia; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
