FAYETTE — Services for James Fells, 92, of Fayette, who died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Meadville Convalescent Home, will be at 11 a.m. today at Crown Point United Methodist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Burnell Newsome officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Fells was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Franklin County, the son of Willie Fells and Luberta Rucker. He was a member of Crown Point United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school scholar. He also a member of the Bible study group.

Mr. Fells served as an ordinance solider during World War II, in both the Philippines and Europe. While serving, he received the U.S. Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, James Fells Jr. and Clifton Fells.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Starks and husband, Charles, Dorothy Stampley and husband, Julius, and Julia Hamberlin and husband, James, all of Fayette; one sister, Ruby Wilkson of Natchez; one brother, Willie Fells Jr. of Fox Point, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Anderson, Kelvin Boone, James Fells, Terrance Fells, Byron Hamberlin, Robert Starks, Stanley Starks and Torrey Turner Sr.
