Carolyn H. Trippe

July 6, 1931 – July 25, 2011

NATCHEZ — Services for Carolyn H. Trippe, 80, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 25, 2011, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Trippe was born July 6, 1931, in McGehee, Ark., the daughter of Dewey Jefferson Howell Sr. and Ressie Ruth Ellis Howell. She was a member of St. Mary Basilica and was a graduate of Mississippi College in Clinton.

Mrs. Trippe was an elementary school teacher for a number of years. She later volunteered at Cathedral Elementary School where she helped with the reading programs for a number of years.

Mrs. Trippe was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Bergeron; and two brothers, Dewey J. Howell Jr. and James Howell.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence F. “Buck” Trippe Jr.; two sons, Stephen Trippe and Christopher Trippe, both of Natchez; one daughter, Dianne Plowright and husband, Marcus, of London, Ontario; three granddaughters, Lauren Trippe, Amanda Trippe, Taylor Trippe and their mother, Melanie Trippe, all of Natchez; two grandsons, Baden Plowright and Jay Plowright, both of London; one aunt, Mabel Ruth Howell of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Adrianne Anderson and Mary Warrick, both of Cleburne, Texas; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to Cathedral School.
