NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School District created a new computer technician position Thursday to allow one of the technicians to focus on Promethean boards.
The school board met for five minutes at a specially called meeting to approve the request of Interim Superintendent Joyce Johnson to create and advertise for a fourth computer technician.
Johnson said the district wanted to reorganize the technology department, which required a fourth technician.
Three of the technicians will now be assigned to two specific schools, Johnson said. A fourth technician will cater specifically to Promethean boards and serve the Braden Administrative Building.
Board member David Troutman said he knows from experience as a teacher that assigning technicians to specific schools should allow for quicker response times when computer problems arise.
“I’ve sat with a blown out bulb for three weeks (as a teacher),” Troutman said.
Board members Troutman, Dr. Benny Wright and Wayne Barnett voted unanimously to approve Johnson’s request. Board members Dale Steckler and Thelma Newsome did not attend the meeting.
