MCCOMB — Services for Wayne D. Smith, 68, of Natchez, who died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, in Erbil, Iraq, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Franklin County with the Rev. Hollis McGehee officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of McComb.

Mr. Smith was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Natchez, the son of Malcolm Camey Smith and Adell Jones Smith.

He was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and attended Louisiana Technical College on a football scholarship. He had worked in the oilfield for more than 32 years and overseas since 1985, as operations manager for an oilfield service company.

Mr. Smith had a passion for history and loved reading and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joy Thompson Smith; one daughter, Jennifer Jo Komarow and husband, Gregory, of Dubai, UAE; one brother, J.D. Smith and wife, Barbara, of Natchez; one granddaughter, Anastasia Jennifer Komarow; one niece, Kelly Stephens and husband, Byran, of Brandon; one nephew, Chris Smith and wife, Shelia, of Lutz, Fla.; and three great-nieces Hailey and Mallory Stephens and Brooke Smith.

Pallbearers will be Earl Cox, Bryan Stephens, Ronnie, Shawn, Jonathan and Chris Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Smith, Dick Dollar, Ron Rushing and Jerry Herring.
