NATCHEZ — Services for Wade Mobley Sr., 74, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, in Natchez, following a lengthy illness, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Southerland, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the funeral home.

Mr. Mobley was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Columbia, La., the son of William Ado Mobley and Blanche Mobley. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Mr. Mobley retired from Ergon Trucking Company after 25 years of service. He then owned and operated a lawn service business with his wife for 12 years. He loved helping people and talking with and visiting family and friends. The last years of his life were devoted to helping raise his grandson, Brandon Wallace, of which he cherished every moment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, J.Y., Johnnie, Bobby and Ray; one sister, Eva Mae Lowe; one son-in-law, David Barlow; one grandson, David Barlow Jr.; and one stepdaughter, Linda Whitehead.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Mildred Joyce Mobley; three daughters, Tina Floyd and husband, Scotty, Latrisha Bradshaw and husband, Mike, and Carnita Barlow; one son, Wade Mobley Jr. and wife, Joan, all of Natchez, and stepson, Leslie Wallace and wife, Ann, of Natchez,; two stepdaughters, Cindy Robinson and husband, Dorwin, of Natchez and Ann Wallace Johnson and husband, Rick, of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, James Mobley and wife, Dotty, of Winnsboro, La., and Ado Mobley and wife, Rosemary, of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Shirley Bayless and husband, James, of Monroe, La., and Linda Hilburn and husband, Thomas, of Wisner, La.; his blended family blessed him with 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Floyd, Mike Bradshaw, Wade Mobley Jr., Clint Robinson, Blane Robinson and Joshua Gilmore.

Special thanks to the Hospice staff and Wade’s family for sitting and caring for their dad during his illness. The family also appreciates all the prayers and thoughtfulness from the church members during the family’s time of need.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
