NATCHEZ — Services for pastor Carlotta Beverly, 75, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Fatherland Baptist Church with the Rev. James Lee officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Beverly was born March 21, 1936, in Adams County, the daughter of Robert Bacon and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bates Bacon. She was a graduate of Baldwin College of Cosmetology, Natchez Junior College and Alcorn State University. She was employed by Natchez public school system and was pastor of Full Gospel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Beverly was a member of Greater Fatherland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph Ray Beverly; one sister, Bessie Hargrave; and one brother, Robert Brown Jr.
Survivors include one son, James Beverly Jr. of Natchez; four daughters, Yolander Davis, Cassandra Beverly, Patricia Beverly and Katrina Beverly, all of Natchez, and Brenda Beverly of Bossier City, La.; two sisters, Mary Graves and husband, Leroy, and Sarah Bogan of Radcliff, Ky.; one brother, Warrenton Bacon of New Orleans; two uncles, Samuel Bacon and wife, Susie, of Natchez and Joseph Bates of Long Beach, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
