FERRIDAY — Services for Ethel Washington, 89, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Washington was born May 20, 1922, in Ferriday, the daughter of James and Maple Jones Sheppard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Washington; her parents; three sons, Donald, James and Samuel “Larry” Washington; three grandchildren, Darlene and Ashley Washington and James Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Arielle Williams and Armani Cole.

Survivors include six sons, Calvin Washington and Roosevelt Washington, both of Ferriday, Willie Washington and wife, Catherine, of Jonesville, David Taylor and wife, Annie, of Houston, Texas, Forrest Washington and wife, Vera, of Lancaster, Calif., and James Washington and wife, Sandra, of Pensacola, Fla.; six daughters, Leola Ferguson of Houston, Texas, Margie Ivory of Stafford, Texas, Eddie Beatrice Hill and husband, Elijah, of Missouri City, Texas, Angela Lee of Hesperia, Calif., Linda Washington and Magnolia Washington and husband, Lawrence, all of Ferriday; three sisters, Irene Stevenson of Anchorage, Ark., Pinky Sheppard and Elizabeth Sheppard and husband, Hersher, all of Ferriday; 39 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-grandchild she raised as her own, Keyondria Washington of Ferriday.
