FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Mary Odell Posey, 92, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Ferriday Church of God with the Rev. Victor Stewart and the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.

A 3 p.m. graveside service will follow at Magee City Cemetery in Magee under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ferriday Church of God.

Mary Posey was born on June 8, 1919, in Mendenhall. She was a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and an active member of Ferriday Church of God. She was instrumental in starting the Church of God in Wiggins, where she was a charter member.

Ms. Posey was preceded in death by her husband, Berlin G. Posey; parents James Oliver Canoy and Mary Canoy; brother, James Canoy; and sisters Prudie White, Addie P. Mason, Annie White, Lourene Dyson, Irene Robinson and Jamie Helen Thompson.

She is survived by a number of family and friends.
